THE DESIGN
The Limehouse Cut project imagines the transformation of a currently industrial site in Poplar, running parallel to London’s oldest Canal, in an area already undergoing radical transformation. The proposals draw character from their unique setting by extending the canal frontage, and allowing up to 400+ water side homes, a new pedestrian bridge and a new pocket park to be shaped. The proposals could improve connections in the area and bring new life to this existing water side asset.
OUR ROLE
Limehouse Cut is a speculative project, undertaken by Studio Woodford as part of their ‘what if’ research series. The site was targeted due to its potential to unlock sites to the north the Limehouse Cut, in an area of fast paced change, where the potential of the sites to the south of Limehouse Cut have already started to be realised. The proposals explore a radical solution to achieving truly canal side living where all homes benefit from a connection to the water.
