THE DESIGN
An ambitious 3,000 homes outline masterplan with exceptional new parks, new school, and new homes. The design work was a continuation of the work undertaken for area 1, focusing on the development of the neighbourhood design codes and illustrative detailed proposals. The area 2 parcels include 2 distinct grains – ‘urban’ and ‘settlement’. Area 2 is the steepest part of the masterplan, varying by as much as 20m from side to side. Capitalizing on this topography to define the site’s character was vital.
OUR ROLE
Studio Woodford worked as a masterplan consultant for Lavigne Lonsdale, an exceptional Cornish based practice, with in-depth local knowledge of Truro and a catalogue of successful projects across the south coast. Studio Woodford were appointed to explore the design potential of the urban parcels & transition spaces given the practice’s specialisation on high-density urban sites.
